Installation

At Slaters all our heating engineers are Hetas registered in order your stove meets the required building regulations. So what does installation consist of well if your house is built prior to 1964 it is more than likely a brick built chimney these can potentially be fatal as the dividing wall between adjacent flues deteriorate leaking products of combustion into bedrooms ect to resolve this problem we reline the chimney with a flexible solid fuel liner which fits with a connector to your stove pipe making absolutely sure no fumes are likely to pass into adjacent rooms.

a standard installation consists of lining the chimney from top to bottom securing the liner in position with a top support finishing of with a raincap and birdguard. At the fireplace opening also known as the inglenook we position a steel plate or cement board inside the opening this helps prevent heat loss up the chimney and old debris from falling on top of the stove the adaptor is secured onto the liner along with the stove pipe and cemented onto the spigot on top of the stove.

In certain circumstances we may recommend backfilling around the liner with insulation our heating consultants would advise on home survey.

Benefits of lining the chimney are not just from the safety aspect although this is the main concern but also the efficiency is improved and enabling more control over the stove another area which is of importance is routine chimney cleaning if the chimney has been lined we sweep the chimney through the stove up into the liner if no liner is present the problem of soot accumulating on top of the register plate which requires cleaning can create problems.

We have covered here just a standard installation we appreciate that on many occasions we are faced with different circumstances we are here for advise and hopefully come up with solutions to any problems in order for yourself to feel the benifits of a woodburnig stove

By law in England and Wales the installation of a solid fuel combustion appliance is to building regulations the owner of the dwelling must either:
